Definition - ἀγάπη (agape)
The original Greek approach to Agape remains appropriate. It describes Agape as respect, appreciation, and sympathy for another. It sees 'value' in the other. This perceived value may trigger feelings of Compassion and even Pity for the other. These responses of Agape may motivate one to sacrifice for the good of the other. Further, this perceived value is based upon the Doctrine that: 'We are all children of God.' This teaching directs one to act for the benefit of very diverse others.
